Frequently asked questions.

01
What's the difference between strategy consulting and what you do?

Most consultancies help you decide what to build. I help you actually build it. I'm brought in after the strategy deck lands—to translate plans into action, redesign how you work, and stay embedded until it ships. Think of me as the bridge between "here's what we recommend" and "here's what we did."

02
Why do companies struggle to execute strategy after hiring McKinsey, Bain, or IDEO?

One client called it "a snake swallowing a rat." Consultancies deliver everything at once—200 slides, comprehensive recommendations, the works. Then they leave. Your team is left choking on content they can't digest before the institutional knowledge walks out the door. I work differently: embedded longer, digestible chunks, focused on what you can actually absorb and implement.

03
How is one person able to do work that usually requires a full consulting team?

Two things: experience and technology. I've led dozens of these transformations over 20 years—I know the patterns, the pitfalls, the shortcuts. And Gen AI tools let me work at speed and scale that used to require whole teams. I can do competitive analysis, process mapping, and research synthesis in days instead of weeks. My constraint isn't capability—it's my calendar.

04
What does "operating model redesign" actually mean?

It's redesigning how work gets done: structure (who reports to whom), processes (how decisions get made), metrics (what gets measured), and culture (what behaviors get rewarded). When your strategy requires different ways of working but your operating model stays the same, strategy dies. I rebuild the operating model so execution matches ambition.

05
We have AI co-pilots but haven't deployed real agents. What's the missing step?

You can't automate what you can't articulate. Most teams skip the critical middle step: breaking workflows into discrete tasks with clear inputs, outputs, and decision points. Co-pilots help individuals. Agents require rethinking entire processes. I run workshops that decompose complex workflows into automatable tasks, then sequence them into a roadmap for building autonomous agents.

06
How long does an engagement typically take?

Diagnostics: 1-2 weeks. Design sprints: 4-5 weeks. Full transformations: 12-16 weeks. But I stay flexible—some clients need quick hits, others need embedded support through rollout. The goal isn't to maximize billable hours; it's to get you unstuck and ship results.

07
Our leadership team has 200+ priorities. How do you help us focus?

I run forcing function workshops where we map all priorities against strategic value and capacity constraints. Then I make leadership choose—literally force-rank until we're down to 3-5 actual priorities. Everything else gets killed, deferred, or delegated. The hard part isn't the framework; it's creating the space where leaders finally make the tough calls they've been avoiding.

08
What's your pricing model?

Quick diagnostics start at $15K. Design sprints run $75-120K. Full transformations are $175-300K for 12-16 weeks. I price for the work, not the overhead. No junior consultants billing partner rates. No infrastructure you're not using. Just senior-level thinking at a fraction of Big Firm costs.

09
Why do innovation initiatives keep dying in our organization?

Usually one of three things: misaligned incentives (people get punished for taking risks), broken handoffs (innovation team → business unit), or unclear decision rights (no one knows who can actually kill a project). I run innovation mortality assessments—autopsies of past failures—to identify structural problems before you launch the next thing.

10
Do you work on-site or remotely?

Both. Diagnostics and workshops work best in person (I'll travel). Implementation support can be hybrid—on-site for key milestones, remote for regular check-ins. Based in Bay Area, but I've worked with clients across North America, Europe, and Latin America. We'll find a rhythm that matches your needs and budget.
